Bikes and Seals .....

After a bit of a lie in we threw on some clothes and got breakfast ready in the kitchen. We took it back up to the room and got back into bed to watch some more videos, whilst munching on our muesli.

Eventually we got up and got ready and walked to the supermarket to get picnic bits for lunch. We’d seen some bikes for hire, so we made up our picnic and hired two bikes for the afternoon.

We’re now sitting on a bench, in the sun, by the sea, enjoying our food and writing up the Blog..... can’t be bad!!

After waiting for our food to digest it was back on the bikes and heading up to the hillside. As soon as we pulled up, there were 5 or 6 seals just enjoying the sun, every now and then just having a stretch and moving. Can’t believe how close they were. We must have sat there for 20 minutes before realising there was a seal just next to us. They are so camouflaged against the rocks. We watched one clumsily move across the rocks towards the water. It then entered the water and just glided along the surface. We sat and watched it twisting and turning through the water, it looked like it was having a great time.

We decided to lock up the bikes and climb to the top of hill to the lookout. When we got to the top you could see for miles, still no dolphins though! We carried on further up the hill and looked down towards the beach. We could see the seal colony below us, little black slithers on the rocks. After 10 minutes of taking it all in, we walked back down to the bench and sat and watched the seals and sea kayaks.

We unlocked the bikes and started back to the town, calling in at the Bottle-o for some tinnies.

We rode to the beach and enjoyed the sunshine whilst enjoying a beer. Had a great time just sitting there and planning our next trip.

We had to drop the bikes off and headed back to the hostel to watch a video.
