Windy roads to Cardona ..... awesome pub !!

We were off on the road again but stopped off at the Kawarau Bridge to watch the bungy jumpers. It’s a 43m jump over the river, it’s the world first bungy jumping site.

We drove on and took the Alpine Scenic Route, for our destination Lake Wanaka.

The views were amazing once we’d wound our way to the top. We’re loving the autumn colours.

We stopped off at a lovely pub The Cardrona Hotel. It was so cosy with its log fire, just what we needed as it was a bit fresh outside. We ordered our hot chocolates and sat and enjoyed the atmosphere. By the time we finished we headed out to look around the beautiful gardens.

We took to the road again and it wasn’t long before we arrived at Lake Wanaka. We booked our Motel and drove there to park up the car. We then headed out to look around the town. Quite a small town but overrun with skiing and climbing gear.

It was lunchtime so we had a local beer and some food in a lovely cafe overlooking the lake.

Whilst it was raining we had a look in the shops, making a dash for a walk around the lake when it stopped. Just heading back and it started raining again so we had to call into a pub to have a beer, just until it stopped!! Ha ha, any excuse!!
