First day on the Magic Bus ....

Wow, 6am we awoke and a quick shower and a brew and we were all walking into town. It was the first time in a while that we had to carry our bags........ it was definitely a challenge, we were all over the place.

We got there earlier than expected so we enjoyed another brew outside watching the people going to work. At 7.45am we were saying our goodbyes to the Hines Seniors. Still can’t believe they’re off to Australia!! Funny thing is we might be seeing them again in NZ, depending on the flight situation!

We were introduced to the Magic Bus driver Mark and he drove us out of the City and soon we were heading northwards. He was telling us facts about the places we were going through which was cool and he was very funny!!

Soon we stopped for a stretch of the legs and a brew, 30 minutes later back on for the last hour on the bus. The Coastal Roads are beautiful, the sun was shining. We even got to see some of the NZ Fur Seals basking on the rocks......no dolphins though!

We arrived at our Hostel, Adelphi Backpackers and checked in. Mentioning we were honeymooners caused us to get a discount ....... definitely worth remembering!!

After dumping our stuff we headed out for a wander through the town. Just checked out a few shops and enjoyed eating our sandwiches on the beach, the place where we’d eaten them with Mum and Dad not long ago!!

Our hostel was part of a pub and we noticed that it was Quiz Night ...... yippee!!

The hostel was awesome, really old, it used to be a hotel and still had all the old features. We had a VIDEO RECORDER in our room and in the communal room it was shelves of videos ....... definitely a blast from the past!! After picking out a couple, we decided to chill in our room before venturing downstairs for the Quiz.

At 8pm we were there waiting for the quiz. We were of course ‘Team Diggers!’ and we were the only team with 2 people on it. It was so different to the Perth Quiz but even so we were 1st after 6 rounds!! Didn’t last long though, you had a joker that you could play on any round, this meant your points were doubled for that round. We’d used ours already but other teams saved it for the last round.....tactical!! This meant we were knocked off the leading position ...... never mind we didn’t come last!
