We awoke and packed up after breakfast before driving the car down to the lake for a walk. The colours of the trees were so lovely and we even saw red and while coloured toadstools.......didn’t think they existed!! We can’t get over how quiet it is here and not much wildlife. The walk was so lovely.
We got back in the car and found Highway 6, we followed the signs towards Haast. Along the way we stopped off to walk one of the nature trails.
We even got photos of the Blue Pools, although they weren’t so much as pools as gushing rivers! We had, had a lot of rain though. We tried one of the other walks but after a treacherous climb we hit a dead end and had to carefully make our way back down!
Back on the road and along the route we saw Fantail and Thunder Creek Waterfalls.
We arrived back at Haast and decided to get a feed at the local pub........The Hard Antler!! Lots of dead things hanging from the walls and roof, nice!!
From Haast we drove off to Franz Josef. We stayed in a Motel for the night.
